How I Met My Husband...

I was totally inspired by Christine @ Hooah and Highchairs story of how she met her husband (and if you click that link it will send you to her story), and decided to write about how I met my husband.

When I was 19, I had just finished my little "immature party stage", I needed a break to get away from all the drama of pulling away from friends and getting my life back on track. My friend Kylie lived at Fort Riley with her husband and daughter. Her husband's name was Thomas and Thomas was about to deploy for his first time to Iraq, so I thought I would head out there and visit them, for about 10 days to see them and say goodbye.

When I got there almost immediatly they wanted to show me around Fort Riley and for some reason they wanted to go to the PX...if you have been to a PX you know there is a food court before you walk into the actual PX area, so as we were walking in, suddently I saw this man in a dirty white shirt and jeans, walking out of the PX, my heart probably had a surge cause I remember the feeling of shock running through my body, he smiled, I smiled and I turned away knowing I would never ever have the guts to talk to him...suddenly he turns and says "Hey Thomas how you doing??"...WHAT?!? I seriously turned bright red, he introduced himself and all I could think was thank god I look hot today. They talked about hanging out soon and I was so excited!! I immediatly told Kylie he was HAWT!.
During this time Thomas and Kylie did not want me to meet P, they wanted me to date this boy who turned out to be P's roommate. He wasnt my type he has just ya...no.

So one day P came over for a little party to Kylies and Thomas's where I tried to get P's attention so badly, but not in a trashy way. He didnt seem intrested so  acted like I didnt care. But later one when he got he alone he kissed me for the first time. :)

Over the next few days he and I had our first date and even spent a few hours on Guard Duty together. After I flew home to Utah he flew to California for his 2 week leave before deployment and we spent the whole time talking, and then finally made our relationship really offical. But making it offical ment me making the commitment to wait for him for 12 months.

Deployment #1 Day he left.

After 12 months I was there waiting for him! After that he met my family, we went to Hawaii for a week, I went to California and met his family where we got ENGAGED!!

A few days after we got engaged we flew to Utah where he insisted on us getting married in the courthouse and we did!

I'm beyond blessed to of had such a whirlwind of a relationship and a marriage! I have loved every single minute of it! He is a wonderful husband and a wonderful fantastic father! I couldnt be happier with anyone else.

Anxious.

So I have mentioned before that we're PCS'ing to Fort Bragg, North Carolina in March...looking like March 10th. I have been wanting to go to North Carolina for a long time! I have been excited about moving...BUT the last few days I have felt my anxiety level rise.

I guess mostly its because I have really good friends here finally! I love my house and I finally feel settled. Now I am about to move for the 4th time in 2 years and I am scared. Yepp scared. My doctor has given me xanax because I do have anxiety at night time especially. But I am now more nervous then ever.

I am sure I am not the only one who is scared to leave behind a good life and start a new life somewhere else. I am ready to leave Kansas behind, but I am not ready to leave my friends.

I am scared that I will get to North Carolina and have no friends. I am not the most open person, and I know how some Army Wives can be. Plus it doesnt help that my husband is a 24 (almost 25) E6 and most E6's are older and so their wives and kids are older. So I have no idea how this is going to work! My husband is NOT one of those guys that only hangs out with his rank dudes. He hangs out with E5's and even one E4 as long as he's not their NCO. But I dont know how this is going to work.

Plus...I have no idea if I should even plan Evelyn a birthday party. :( We are planning on taking her to Disney World which would be a birthday thing...and I will be home in August for a month and we'll be throwing her a party then too. But none for Hubs and I? I am conflicted.

My body is not accepting this very well, I am certain that I am about to loose a ton of weight because I have so much stress and worry going through my body, over something I cannot control.

Speaking of non controlling...I am pretty sure that the Unit my husband is joining is deployed right now, which means no deployment for a while, which I NEED! 2, 12 month deployments in 3 years, ya we need a break! But what if something happens?

Yepp...I am in a sea of "what if's". I am not crazy to be so anxious right??

MILSpouses

Today I am so happy! My best friend Kylie who I have known since I was 12! Is here! Her husband has been deployed with my husband for the last 7 1/2 months and is here for R&R...Kylie didnt move home for the deployment and I havent been able to see her so I am super excited to see her.
When you have little to no interaction with any other MILSpouses it really does take a major toll on you. Talking/Texting doesn't always help. I need someone who understands, and I need someone who doesnt make me feel like I have to constantly talk about how my husband is doing! That or when I do need to talk about how he is doing, I dont feel like its so akward.
I've heard many new MILSpouses say they dont need Military friends. The friends back at home understand how hard this life is......WRONG! All my friends here avoid me! No joke. I have had a few friendly interactions since I have been home, but everyone knows I am pregnant...so there goes all their party time if they want to hang out with me, PLUS I am married with a husband who just isnt in the picture right now, so I'm not single and I cant go to parties and go to clubs and hang out with a ton of guys like my single friends want to. I love being married to my husband!! I wouldnt change it for anything, he is so adorable! But right now it would sure be nice to have people around me who understand the challenges I face.
When the attack on their FOB happened a few weeks ago, I was here in Utah..with no one to talk to about it. If I needed to talk I had to TXT or Call a friend in Kansas and talk. But here zip..nadda..zilch.
I'm glad I moved home...its given Hubby and I the chance to save some money and pay off our car plus get all the things our Little Love is going to need without breaking our budget. I have gotten alot closer with a few of my family members, and though it sucked hard core for the first 5 months, I'm finally at a place were I'm settled and ready to move on. I'm ready to move back to Kansas and start my life with my husband and daughter. I honestly cant wait!! Oh did I mention...I am so ready to have friends again :)
