Last Girls Day

I had my last offical Girls Day on Sunday with my girlfriends. We drove to Topeka and went shopping and had some yummy Red Lobster. All of us girls have this special bond, and its hard to imagine us not being a few minutes away from eachother.

I never realized how much I would miss these girls until Sunday. We will probably never be at the same Duty Station again. 1 friend is pregnant and I wont be seeing her baby.

I know that this is a life we have to live, but it doesnt make it any less suckier!

I dont have pictures of Girls Day, my camera is kinda a pain to drag around. BUT I DID find my camera, you know the one my husband lost at the Military Ball! After the fact of course! Heres my girlfriends!! I am really going to miss you girls!!

7 Months!

Evelyn,

My oh my I cant believe how much you have changed in the last month!! You can now sit up all by yourself for over 5 minutes! You can say "Dadada" and "BaBaBa"...you have no idea what they mean but you still babble them away!! You amaze me soo much! I couldnt be prouder of the little girl I am raising.
Your such a little daddies girl! It melts my heart seeing how much you adore your dad. Your perfectly content to sit with him and "play" video games. You stare at him everytime you see him, and when he smiles at you, your face just lights up!

You had your bed lowered this month since your we're loving hitting your sound machine.
You still only have the 2 teeth! We thought you were getting your top ones but we havent seen them appear yet.
You LOVE your sippy cup! Apple juice or water is usually whats in it. If we give you grape juice you hate it.
Bath time is another favorite for you. Your getting more active with your toys in the bath tub since you'll sit up and its been fun having you splash me!

Never forget how much Mommy and Daddy love you baby girl!!

Diapers-Size 3!

Clothes- 6 months! Already in 6-9 Month PJ's...your SO LONG!
Sleep- Your usually up twice at night. Go to bed at 7pm. First feeding at 11, Second feeding at 3, and your up at 7. Nap every 4 hours.
Food- We up'd your formula from 4oz to 5oz and you take it all like a champ! Although you hate to hold your own bottle now. Too many things around you when you eat. Eat about every 4 hours now.
Teeth- You have 2 teeth!!

Firsts- You now sit up all by yourself! I'm so proud of you! We're working on finger foods with you, such as Puffs and crackers, you love to self feed yourself! You started to say "DaDa" and "BaBa", you dont know what they are, but you love to babble it anyways.

This Means War

The hubs and I had our final date night before the move...who knows how long it will be until we can have one of those! So we went to Manhattan, KS and had dinner at one of our favorite resturants...sadly it was a chain resturant, Longhorn Steakhouse, but we still really enjoyed ourselfs. Their steaks are delish. It was hilarious to watch my husband down cheesefries, bread and a 20 oz steak.

Its really bittersweet to be leaving....as I have said before. But the Hubs and I did meet here so it really feels different. Fort Riley is where it all began. One day we will come back for a visit with our kids.

After dinner we saw This Means War with, Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy. It also had Chelsea Handler in it which you know ment it was FUNNY.

Its about CIA spys fighting over a girl, it actually was pretty hilarious. Starting out it wasnt funny and I thought it was going to be a dumb movie...but it seriously got way funnier!!

Tonight we're watching my friends kids so they can go have a date night. Since we're their normal babysitters they dont know when they get a date night again, and they also just found out they are PCS'ing to Fort Polk. In a way that made me feel better knowing everyone is leaving, so even though I am the first to leave, all my friends are leaving too.

Sweetie Pie

Just when I think my husband doesnt understand how much work I have been doing...not to mention how effing tired I am...he goes on to tell me he made me an appointment to go get my hair done, which I havent done since Evelyn was born almost 7 months ago, and to go get my toes done.

Seriously! He is a sweetie sometimes :)

Not to mention he's being dragged to a kids birthday party, going through all our junk and doing our final date night before the move this weekend. Who knew he could be so damn sweet. I definitly married the right guy :)

Sit Up

So at Evelyn's 6 month appointment I mentioned how her doctor was not very thrilled that Evelyn was refusing to sit up and also how she doesnt like to stand flat footed. So I was asked to work as hard as I could with her on this problem and before we moved to make an appointment and see her Pediatrition on how she was doing.

Well our appointment isnt until the 24th, BUT I have been working so hard on Evelyn with her sitting up and staying flat footed. While Evelyn still struggles with staying flat footed (she likes to balence on her sides and tip-toes) she has FINALLY started sitting up!

We did buy her a Sit to Stand toy to keep her more interested in sitting up, and I am so glad we did. She sits up for a while and while we work on her balencing shes trying to touch and play with the toy, right now I just push buttons to grab her attention

She does hate to do it. She's still super stiff with her hips but she will now sit up for minutes at a time as opposed to seconds.

Round of Applapause for Evelyn!!

A Downer.

So since we now are in the offical moving to NC in less then a month stage, I have really REALLY started to miss home. I think we all know as MilSpouses that one of the things that sucks is living away from family...ok usually!

I do love having my own life, and not having the option to run home when things get rough. It makes mine and Hubs relationship alot stronger to be away from everyone.

I do however hate not being in my nephews lives. I miss those boys soo much! I hate that I can't be "cool aunt liz" all the time. I have been trying to find ways to make myself and the Hubs and Evelyn more apart of their lives. Ashton is almost 2 and isnt very interested in seeing me on Skype, he just loves to point to Evelyn and say "baby!" (too cute!). Mackey lives with his Mom so I almost never get to skype with him, but he is 9 and he's at that super fun age, plus Mac acts like he is 12! So he is a blast!

I guess one thing that super sucks is they will no longer be that long, boring, flat 16 hour drive away anymore. They will now be more the 33 hours away from me. Evelyn wont have her cousins in her life very much, and her uncles wont be either...and thats a hard thing to accept since I grew up with my cousins and my Aunts and Uncles. I loved it!

I'm super excited about us moving to NC, and I cannot wait for this adventure...but it does have its downs. We were hoping to get stationed closer to Utah so we could see family more often.

My optimistic side in me says it will be great and I will see my family for longer periods of time when I go home, plus who knows where the next duty station will be! It could always be worse, we could be moving to Germany or Italy, but we're staying on the Mainland and thats still closer the most familys in the Military have it. So I should be grateful about this. Hopefully when I got home for my month and a half in August I can enjoy a ton of family time and Evelyn and eat it all up!! More reason to save our money so we can go home more often!

BTW heres my cute awesome nephews!

Introducing Miss Sippy Cup!

...not what I call her Sippy just FYI. Just sounded catchy!

Anyways! I have introduced the sippy to Evelyn. She does pretty good with it. I give her apple juice and water in her sippy and that all she gets in it! No formula at all! My goal is to have her 100% off the bottle and the binkie on her 1st birthday. (i will possibly concider the binkie for teething times)
I have stuck to my parenting goals pretty well! I've only had Evelyn sleep in bed with us when need be, such as when we moved back to Fort Riley or when we were on vacation, even a few times when Hubs and I just wanted to have a family night together in bed. But Evelyn is usually in her bed. I'm pretty proud of that goal! I know that alot of parents do the co-sleeping but I just never wanted to do it because my nephews (who's now almost 2) still sleeps in bed with my brother and SIL, and I never wanted to have to break her of that habit. I almost sometimes wish I had done it but in the end I am pretty glad I didnt since we have such a good strong thing going on right now.

Evelyns always done really good at development...aside from her stubborness to not sit up and stand on her tip-toes, but as far as weaning of breastmilk and going to formula she did amazing! She's also been awesome at eating her baby foods and trying her new finger foods! (I did get my doctor to agree to trying her on finger foods since she now has teeth) So I am hopeful that she'll enjoy the sippy soon.

Right now shes just not interested. I keep the sippy on the floor so she can grab it when she wants it, and she usually will when she does. Its alot of fun this stage! I love getting her to try different foods and liquids! She does hate grape juice though and the hubs keeps drinking the damn apple juice...it just keeps disapearing.

At dinner time she eats at the table with us and she gets her juice, puffs and baby food and she just loves being a "grown up" with us.  I tell you this stage is a blast!!!

Staff Duty

Today the Hubs has Staff Duty, and as bad as we all know it sucks, it gives Evelyn a full 30 hours...yes 30 since they made him do PT, to have a day to ourselves. No dwelling on how much it sucks, because we're not those type of people.
So Evelyn and I are having a girls night with my girlfriends! Its technically a birthday party for a friend but its just dinner and chick flicks for us girls tonight! I am lucky to have friends that are flexible enough to have a party on a week night!

So this morning has been all about working on Evelyns ovious needs to learn to sit up and keep her feet grounded, plus baking a white cake and making a little thing called.....

Red Velvet Cake Batter Dip! Yes I want to try it.

Plus doing some MMMazing Parmesan Crusted Pork Chops for dinner!!

Trust me sometimes you wanna be my friend! I make yummy ummies alot!

Our Love Story

I'm linking up with "From Mrs. to Mama" on Our Love Story. I love telling Hubs and Mines story because SO MANY people think we met on myspace....no we did not.

P.S you should also check out her Valentines Day Giveaways by clicking here!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
In September it will be 4 years!
2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
I actually came to Fort Riley, KS to visit a friend who's husband was about to deploy. They wanted to show me around Post and I agreed. We started off at the PX and when we went in through the doors there he was! Dirty white shirt and jeans...buying a bottle of liquor no less (or surprise). I had an instant shock through my body and I blushed as he stared at me. I knew I'd never have the courage to talk to him, so I kept walking when he suddendly struck up a conversation with my friends husband! NUTS! He introduced himself and then he said we should all hang out!
It took some talking into since the boy my friends wanted me to "date" was the hub's roomate! But I seriously was not interested! When the hubs came over it was a party atmosphere and we had a few drinks. While everyone was outside smoking he decided to come in and talk to me, and right there is where we had our first kiss!
We spent as much time as we could together before he deployed, which was only weeks away when I met him, but as you all know by now the rest is history!
3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}
We've been married 2 years!
4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?  If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
We got married in my hometown in Utah, in the courthouse, 5 days after we got engaged! I wouldnt of had it any otherway!
5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
HAHA when we were dating, I used to call him Hot Potato and he called me Yammie Pie...I dont know why we ever did that!
6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
1. He love Evelyn and I more then anything on this earth! He is honestly my hero in many ways! He will do anything to make his girls happy!
7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
He proposed on Christmas Morning at his mothers house in California. Apperently my ring was in my stocking that I had been sleeping by the WHOLE time. After I got up to go to the bathroom, we were laying in bed cuddling and I could feel him fidget with something when I finally grabbed his hand and there it was! He whispered in my ear "will you marry me?" and I whispered back "YES!"
8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
BOTH! He knows I love flowers! On our first Valentines Day he was in Iraq and I worked for the married girls, and I recived a HUGE pink monkey, red roses and red gerber daisys and tonz of chocolate! Last year I jsut recived roses and chocolate since I was pregnant I didnt even eat the chocolate, it made me sick. But he has given me rose petals, strawberrys and champagne for our Anniversary.
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Pop in a movie! Although I love those romantic moments on the beach we had in Hawaii
10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
Travel the world! We both would love to have unlimited funds to do that!
11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
Well this Valentines Day we have decided to stay in with Evelyn and Put her in bed and do our favorite date night, stay up and play video games together. I am making a red velvet cheesecake and he'll be on the grill making steaks. We do it at least once a month and its our favorite!
12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
I hint to a video game I want. Mario Party. But I wouldnt really care if I got it. Its just amazing to be together this year!
13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
from a Military Wives perspective...never EVER take advantage to having him home with you. I love the quote that says: Love Like He's Deploying Tomorrow. Its true! We never know when they will come home and tell us that news. I'll never take advantage of him being home ever again.
(deployment day '10)
14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.

30 Day Notice.

So on Friday I turned in our 30 day notice to the housing office! Its really happening, its really going on. Its strange.

I am so glad that everything at Fort Bragg is going to be set up for us when we get there as far as housing goes! Because I cant imagine trying to find a house right now!

We are doing an Army move, but thinking maybe a partial. We have to drive both cars to Bragg so we want to fill up my Edge to the exteme with things we will need before transportation brings our things. Such as pots and pans! and dishes! Plus all the crap you need for a baby! I dont know much about any of this crap! I have our final appointment with Transporation on the 22nd and then we'll be able to find out more.

This is the Hubs and Mines first PCS so we're fuzzy on details, and we've got a million friends telling us a million different things! all I know for sure is I am going to feed my movers! It shocked me when I read a blog that said some people dont feed them or give them even water! RUDE! I dont want my stuff to get broken, so I will be feeding them and giving them water.

Other then turning in our 30 day notice, I had no idea that I might be paying out of pocket for our clean up! Even if we clean up. What the hell was the money I gave to to move in for then?

The Hubs and I have started planning our road trip to Bragg...we thought we wanted to do a longer trip since its a long drive and alot of places to see, but we know that one day we will have to move back to the West  Coast one day, and so we've decided just to do our trip in 3 days and spend the rest of the month that he has off, getting our home together and getting to know the area. We have a friend in the Marine Corps thats stationed in North Carolina and we are planning on picking him up for a weekend and going to the beach.

Its amazing how fast this snuck up on us! Its also really sad that we're the first one of our friends to leave, and I've never had a friend PCS...so its a really big sucker for our family. We have such great friends! It will be sad to leave, but hopefully I can find friends fast! Especially friends that want to go to The Hunger Games movie with me! Dying to go much?

I'm Back/Catch Up!

Things in our house hole have gotten alot better!! Just so you know, there was NEVER an issue of divorce, as many people like to speculate. Its an issue the Hubs and I had to deal with on our own, and I'm glad to say we're getting things together and become regular old us, with a few new changes.

Thank god for this PCS though.

Since I have last really blogged! My parents came into town and we had out St. Barbras Ball. It was a blast for the most part. I can only hope our next ball is better then this one.

(i was looking at our camera but hubs lost it so these are from my parents camera)
One thing about the ball, which NO ONE prepared me for was the empty table for our fallen soldiers. This deployment my husbands unit lost a total of 8 guys. 2 of which were his good friends. I knew one of the guy's wife, and the other wife was at the Ball. It deffinitly made everyone emotional. It was a hard situation, especially when it happened. But it was very nice to meet another one of the wives, and let the boys get more closer.

After the parents left the Hubs and I had alot of alone time and alot of time to connect again. This is one reason I am so glad we dont live near our homes anymore. Its too easy to run away when you have hard times, and this was definitly one we needed to do together. While the parents were here, we were lucky enough to have some of the time alone and have a baby sitter, but after they left we had to find that new normal.
I am lucky enough to have a husband who will really try and I will put as much effort into things as him. We both love eachother so very much, and I am so glad that even when we have hard times like these we can still find away to adjust to eachother and our needs at the moment.

Stay tuned because I do have some great giveaways coming up!!!
