March? July? Next year?

I've talked a few times about P re-enlisting this upcoming year. His window is open and he has been just waiting for the 1st SGT...or someone, to transfer out the unit so he can re-enlist and get orders to somewhere else. This person is leaving the unit this month so P said he was going to try this month, even though he is obligated to this unit until July 20th of this year. Then last night, P says what if I wait until next year?....WHAT?!

Seriously you guys. I dont know how many times I can say "P hates it here and can't wait to leave" and then for him to say "What if we wait until next year"...just seriously babe. No.

I feel like I should almost take control of this situation. I wasn't planning on him doing anything until July, just incase someone decided to cancel his orders or whatever...I don't know the whole deal. But then he tells me March...ok then March, whatever...Next year? umm no.

I dont feel like listening to him whine for another year about how bad it sucks here.

Ugh men. He needs to just make up his mind.

But good news for us though, is P got permission to wear his old unit's crest on his Dress Blues, from Fort Riley, which means wecan have the chance to go back to Fort Riley, which we wouldn't really mind. Or go to Hawaii! Bonus on both parts but I think we like the chances that we could possibly go to Hawaii one day :) All part of the adventure!

I forgot.

P is back on the GCF, which means if something happens he is gone. He's been on it before and its never bothered me. This time however, they sent P a packing list and we had to pack him all up just incase. While our living room was destroyed with Army gear and I'm highlighting the things he's packing I suddenly realize...I forgot how this all felt.

I told myself after 2 back to back deployments I would never forget, I would never dull the feeling to the extent of forgetting that at any moment we could be on a time line for him to deploy.

I have become comfortable.

I sat there and remembered how many times I ragged on him for sleeping in when it was my night, Fighting because he made a mess, telling him to sleep on the couch when he was drunk and I didnt want to deal with him. Now I know that we are also a married couple and married couples fight, and thats completly normal, but I'm sure I am not the only other Army Wife that has felt like they slipped into the comfortable feeling like we are normal and its not possible for him to leave again.

Having P be on the GCF this time has really opened my eyes. I am fine with being comfortable but not to the point to being a normal comfortable.

So with P's birthday coming up, and I planning on pulling out all the stops (especially since his B-Day is Super Bowl Sunday), and having a celebration! He doesnt want anyone to come over, which is fine, its not like we have friends here anyways, but I'm planning on making him some of is favorite foods and just making it a party! Valentines Day is coming up too and because we wont have a sitter I'm planning a stay-at-home game date night. Seriously the Wii is the best invention for parents with no sitters for Date Night.

I hope I can create some good memories on these special days, and random days inbetween so if something ever does come up and he has to deploy I won't be looking back and wishing I hadn't fought with him about not putting his dishes away or leaving clothes on the floor.

Live like he's deploying tomorrow.

Why we can't wait to leave Ft Bragg..

I really thought I would never say that.

Before we got here...before we even knew we were moving here, I wanted to come here. This was my dream duty station. I have always wanted to come to the Carolinas, and see this beautiful place. To live here would be a dream.

I really do like living here. I enjoy being near the coast, all the trees and the beautiful sunsets.

However, this post has seemed to have its major downsides.

Now I am not speaking for everyone, or even this whole post. Fort Bragg might be the place for certain people. I honestly sometimes wonder if Fort Riley just spoiled us...but that being said, P and I cannot wait to get the eff out of here.

I used to hate when P would say "I cant wait to move!!" But no, I get it now.

P is constantly working late...and I mean late hours. Sometimes he leaves at 5 AM and wont be home til 7PM and then he'll come home and tell me he was so busy he didnt even get to eat all day. Seriously who does that? Maybe its in his control, I do not know I am not at work with him, all I know is he is sick of it.

I am getting sick of it too. He comes home, late or not, and his phone goes off constantly, he goes to bed at 8 or 9 and at least 4 times a week someone calls at 10 to change something else. Its getting rather ridiculious.

I understand that this is his job, and I "signed up for this too", but really? some days he gets zero time with Evelyn. I don't care if you say "the army comes before families", this is bullshit. I can handle getting only a few hours a day with him. I can text him and interact with him some how. Evelyn, gets that 1 or 2 hours a day with him and its not fair.

I've mentioned before that I am not 100% sure if P is reenlisting or if he is going to get out. We still have 6 months to decide. But we do know if he is able to get out of Fort Bragg...we are going to do it. Hopefully get stationed somewhere closer to home. Until then...I guess we just got to buck up and deal with this type of work he is doing. But I honestly cannot wait for it to be over.

BTW...dont give me comments about how "at least he is home"..."my husbands deployed be glad yours is"...I've done deployments..I know the difference. My thoughts dont change.

Married To The Army...My thoughts.

I know there has been a ton of wives upset, mad, excited, nervous, you name it alot of wives felt it about this show. I like to give things the benifit of the doubt.

My reaction to the show was clearly...Ehh. I liked it, and I understand that series premires are kinda of lame. I do however like that they showed the real personalities of the wives right away. No guessing who is the worst, who I'm going to like less. Nope it was clear who I wasnt going to like from the beginning.

Lindsay. I have my own opinion on her, but I felt like she was very disrespectful. All of us wives met our husbands in some way or another, no shame in saying how you met them. Everyone wishes and hopes that they met there love in some magical Cinderella way....well that doesnt always happen. No shame in it. Lindsay had no right to tell someone that they cant be proud of how they met their husband. Now thats been said and thats all I'm saying.

I am really excited to learn about the wives, and see the challenges they face. I hope this show shines some light on what we all really go through. I dont concider what I do as a Military Spouse as a job, or a way to serve my country. I serve my husband and I stand by my man. But one of my biggest hopes for this show is to show people that the show "Army Wives" is not realistic, even if I do love the show. That what we go through really freaking sucks and is not some wonderful fairy tale. Hopefully this show will show the world how much our soldiers and their families go through.

What was your reaction to the show?

When you feel done..

I've wrote before about P's and mines feelings about re-enlisting. His window opens in May, and for the most part we have been ready to re-enlist, move away from Ft. Bragg (he hates it here), and start a new adventure. But yesterday our minds started to change.

Obviously we have a while before we have the option to make anything offical, but it still crosses my mind on a daily basis.

Yesterday I had an appointment with a dental surgeon to get my wisdom teeth looked at..and no surprise with lack of sleep and lots of other things on my mind, I totally forgot and missed my appointment. They called me and rescheduled for another day and I picked a day that P said he usually is good with coming home for a bit. As soon as I told him he reminded me this week will be busy and he has a jump this week, so it wont. I'll admit that I still get super annoyed and act a little teenagerish when I get upset. So I went into Evelyns room (where she was), and procedded to tweet some frustrations and I'll admit I cried a bit.

P had no idea I was crying or upset, but thats because I dont like him to see me cry. So he came in to talk to me, saw me upset and we procedded to talk. I admitted how frustrating it can be to not have family around and friends that stay home to baby-sit. I know I can register Evelyn for hourly care, but everytime I bring it up with P he says "ya lets do it", and thats all that happens.

After a while I finally just said..."Lets get out"...and he said "Ya? Seriously?" and I said "Serious as a heartattack."

I am not sure how we really are going to make the decision to get out. Getting out scares me, but my parents have offered us the basement in their house until we can buy a house and get jobs, which is fantastic. So I'm not worried, my old job in Utah has been offered back to me anytime we come back to Utah, and with P being a Veteran, it shouldnt be too bad to find a job for him. Especially since he is concidering becoming a Cop.

We have our options, but P is 100% sure on one thing, we are moving away from Ft. Bragg ASAP.

Who knows what the decision will be, but latley I feel done. I love this life and living in so many cool places, but honestly, living near family always seems more appealing.

Sweeping Down The Plains

The Hubs left this morning...back to being apart. For now. It sucks. I wont denie it...it sucks 10x's worse then I thought it would. Not deployment suck though. At least its only 7 weeks.

I came home from the airport just bawling my eyes out. It sucks. I think what sucks more is he will be in North Carolina for a week before he actually leaves for Oklahoma. So I am not super happy, it feels like alot of unnessesary time apart. But my Mom is the best thing ever!...Because!!!

She booked me a flight! She has a ton of Southwest Reward points and she offered them to me. So I booked a flight!!

I'll be there for about 6 days. 2 of those days Hubs will be in school so if anyone at Fort Sill wants to get together let me know!

Cannot wait Cannot Wait!!! Home of the Field Artilery Here we come!!

Whats Going On?

Besides thew post I had yesterday about my Grandpa there is quite a few different things going around in my life right now.

First..Diet...Oh how I am hating to diet! I hate working out! (I stopped my yoga after I had some major pains down in my...ya know area, still need to call my doctor and make sure they arnt cysts). I also always feel like my excuses are legit! Like the one I feel is pretty legit...

"my neighborhood office in Bragg has a room for kids, but its competley seperate from the work out area and the window is too tall for me to see Evelyn from the workout area"

Legit right? Ya..until you think about the Hubs comes home from work and can babysit. Oh ya...Liz good excuse huh! I guess you can call me a clingy wife but I actually love to spend a ton of time with my husband! I like to go out without him, dont get me wrong, but if I dont have to I dont like to.
Now I am in Utah and I can go work out..there is an Army Depot here for free and I have parents who would love to babysit...but do I go? nope. Why?...because;

"Evelyn is my responciblity"

Its the truth and legit. Its mostly me putting it off. I know lots of people who work out say its 5% of your day to work out for an hour...well that one hour I could be working out could be spent with my kid or cleaning or flat out being lazy and watching tv. Yepp thats how I look at it.

BUT I know I am fat. I know I got weight to loose. I know I need to do it. If the Hubs and I decide to have another baby, I need to have this weight off of me, for health reasons. I am by no means morbidy obese..even if my BMI thing says I am Obese..I am not! I have big boobs! HUGE difference! WW is still working for me...even though I'll admit I just had a Drumstick. I am still doing it and trying my best! My Mom and I are doing a diet and I sorta want to make it a challenge...because I personally do not like weighing the same as my mom.

Second..I'm already getting cracking on Halloween! I picked out Evelyn costume and I am making it! I hope I am at least! and its gonna be amazing! :) Also my Mom wants to do crafts with my and my SIL and that will be way fun! Its alot nicer to actually get along with my SIL now.

Third..Evelyn...oh my gosh. Up twice a night...out of habit and the Hubs is mad when I try to let her CIO...the girl still wants a bottle at night...and the Hubs is no help when it comes to trying to sleep train her again. So I am stuck in this thing between wanting him to leave so I can sleep through the night again, and me just giving up and giving her a bottle at night...I know I am failing.

Everyone keeps telling me not to worry so bad..she has been 1 for 12 days now. But I had my goals set out and I feel like I fail them. I fail with my diet, I fail with my kid, I fail myself...and I hate feeling like a failure.

I am ready to start sleep training her again...and the way I am going to start is buy actually litterally throwing her bottles in the trash can. The day the Hubs leaves I am throwing them away...and not buying new ones. I am gonna be a mean momma. Well to her.

At first I thought she was waking up this much because she was so hungry...but no we pack this girl really full and give her a bath and she still wakes up. Its habit. Its annoying...this Momma is dying of sleep deprivation.

Fourth..I say I am ready for the Hubs to go back to NC...and its sorta true. I want to sleep train Evelyn, get back on a budget, not eat out all the time. Oh, and go back to not feeling like I want to punch him in the head so much anymore.

Because if I hear this;
"I'm on leave I shouldn't have to do (insert chore here) right now"

One more time I am gonna loose my mind. I dont get a vacation from Evelyn! I maybe here and not have a whole house to clean but I still clean and I still have to make sure Evelyn is fed, changed and bathed on a daily basis! That saying may have worked when he was on R&R from Iraq, but he is about to go sit in a class all day and then have weekends off where he goes and hangs out with buddies from Fort Riley soon! and thats his vacation! I dont get one! Yepp..thats my rant.

Like how Optimistic I can be ;)

A little catch up.

I know my blogs have been off in another universe lately and now that I am coming back down to earth I wanted to update you on a few things.

First off, if your friends with me on twitter or facebook, you'd know Evelyn is getting molars and the other night didn't stop crying or go to bed till 3:30 AM. I was completely exhausted and only got about 4 hours of sleep. I've never ever had a night like that with Evelyn, I'm seriously hoping I never have another one. That was the worst!

I completely seriously OWN this book. It makes me feel better.

On another hand Hubs school NCO is throwing him around. That set him to go to Airborne School in July and I was going to fly home on the 2nd. Then last week they said "oh we have a slot for you to go so your going to go on Thursday (yesterday), and it turned out the dude didn't know what he was doing, but he cancelled him school date for the one in July...So the Hubs has been told he is leaving next week, the day before Evelyns birthday party....YAY....screw that dude because its not even official...but they'll tell him on Monday if he is going...So I've decided to go ahead with planning Evelyn's party and still planning on flying home on the 2nd...because this crap is BULL!!

I always forget how completely unreliable anything the Army says to you is. From he'll be home for 12 months after deployment to hey he has been home 6 months lets prepare to leave again, to all this crap! I've always told myself its never official until like the day before it happens. I hardly listen to rumors. But this time they are not just screwing with Hubs they are screwing with my plans. I haven't been home in almost a year and I am ready to see some damn mountains damn it! Evelyn's party is easy to cancel no big deal, she's having a party in Utah anyways, but I dont want to have to pay for her cakes if the party isnt going to happen. So tell me Schools NCO...can you pull your head out of your ass and just give him his flippin official date?!?!?!

end rant.

Other then that...I started to read 50 Shades of Grey...and I'm loving it!! I'm going to review it when I finish the books...I know that everyone just knows about the sex in the book, but for me that's just in the book. I love the characters and can't wait to see what happens.

One Year Ago.

I was living a normal day, my husband was deployed, I was almost 8 months pregnant, and I hadn't heard from him all day. Which we know can mean something is wrong. I tried to not think anything of it and knew I would hear from him soon...until someone told me something happened.

What had happened was an attack on my husbands JSS. Water heater sized RPG's flew over their walls and we're blowing away the JSS. The damage was horrible from what I have heard.

Sadly not everyone survived. 5 guys died that day. Two of which Paul was good friends with. Over 20 people were injured and sent home. My husband is very very lucky that the RPG that landed by his room didn't go off. Sadly that wasn't the case for others.

Not everyone is so lucky. I always have these guy's families on my mind.

Today is a day for all of the boys to remember their friends, and sadly Hubs is not back in Riley to be around the other boys he was deployed with. I'm glad him and the boys got some closure when they went to the Mike Hike where they honored one of their fallen.

Keeping the boy's memory's alive. May they forever rest in peace and thank you for their sacrifice.

Always Remember.

Today has been weighing on my mind all weekend. Before I was a MilSpouse I never gave much thought to Memorial Day, it was a long weekend, a celebration of life. Now that I am a MilSpouse I see it so much more different.
Last year on June 6, my husband's JSS in Iraq was attacked. They lost 5 guys in Iraq and 1 in the States and multiple people were injured. Luckily my husband came through unharmed as well as many friends of mine. Sadly we lost 2 men that my husband personally knew. They were his soldiers and it hasn't been an easy thing for him to deal with.
Since we are so close to the 1 year anniversary and now on Memorial Day these 2 boys are in my mind a lot as well as there wives. Both newlyweds and both on their first deployment. Their wives are unbelievable woman.
I cannot thank them enough for their sacrifice. I feel absolutely blessed to have met these boys. I know that they both were looking forward to meeting Evelyn one day and I like to think that they check up on her and Hubs sometimes.

Today is about remembering our fallen hero's, and today I am really thinking about these 2 boys as well as the other men who died because of the attacks that day, and others who have given their lives for our country. I am beyond blessed to meet hero's and live and love one on a daily basics.

Thank you to all of you who have served and are serving.

FRG

I had my first FRG meeting yesterday here at Bragg. I was super surprised my FRG leader didn't introduce herself. I don't even know her name. Before most of us from Riley got here and a few other from other places this until didn't have ANYONE! So I was super surprised they didn't introduce the new guys. I am glad I didn't hold my breath on maybe making new friends there because, I didn't. I met one girl who's husband works with Hubs and she did not seem interested in hanging around me at all. I know that my husband is a super young SSG, and I am used to being the youngest one in a group, but just because I am younger doesn't mean I am immature or a baby. I am a Mom and a Wife, and I am grown up too! Just because you've had 5 more years or whatever more on this earth doesn't mean anything.

I was surprised that this FRG has a power point to the meeting...and the FRG leader didn't even give it, someone else did. Maybe this is how other FRG's work. Our one back at Riley was not at all like this. So it was pretty cool to compare. I certainltly like how they gave you a look at months to come. This Battery goes to the field almost every month, so I got a pretty good idea of what is going on. We got our official leave dates. We also got told we have a BBQ on Evelyn's Birthday and the next day is the start of leave. Looks like Evelyn's probably not going to get a very big day on her actual Birthday. We'll just have to do something in Utah.

I am really looking forward to hopefully getting to know a few wives. Hubs has a few men who's kids are the same age as Evelyn and we've been talking about doing a BBQ one weekend and letting everyone get to know eachother...its called who wouldn't totally die if I got them to baby-sit my kid. Just kidding, but no it will be fun! I am looking forward to doing things like that here. I had such great friends back at Riley, and I am hoping I can meet more girls out here and hopefully get some play-dates set up for Evelyn. She just loves kids!

I am so glad I got to meet a few blogging buddy's out here so that I do have some friends here. :)

I am The Optimistic Army Wife...

Hello all my Military Spouses and a Happy Military Spouses Appreciation Day to you! Thank you for all that you do, because I gotta say, we kick ass. We deal with our husbands/wives leaving for LONG periods of time, going to the field for weeks at a time, countless training's and 24 hour shifts. We kick ass. We have proven to ourselves that we are amazing and we all deserve a day to say...Hell yes I am!
Ya you know you liked that!

Over at Household 6 Diva and Riding the Roller Coaster are hosting a Military Spouse Appreciation Day Blog Hop! All of us Spouses are writing an Into to who we are! It is a day about us right? :) So here is Mine!

I am Liz! I am a 20 something Army Wife married to a man who is a 13D. If you dont know what a 13D is...You know the loud noises you hear going BOOM in the night? That would be my husband. I am a very proud Field Artillery Wife. We have 1 little Army Brat together and her name is Evelyn, she is 9 months old and the light of our lives! We have been through two 12 month deployments together, the last one I was pregnant through and he made it home just in time on R&R to see his daughter be born. We are currently stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, we love it here seeing as we just PCS'd from Fort Riley, Kansas. I am also originally from Utah! I miss Utah, its the best in my opinion.

As you can tell I blog as...The Optimistic Army Wife, why? Because I see my life as something that I have accomplished. I have had hard times in the 20 some-odd years I have been on this earth. But I believe that all prepared me for the life I am living today. I remain incredibly optimistic about almost every situation I encounter, sometimes I shock myself at how much I choose to not get upset about.

I blog about whatever I want to. Usually its about our lives in general, not just Military. I have become incredibly close with a few other wives in the blogging community and I am very grateful for that. One thing I love to do is become personal with my readers. I love to get involved in there lives and situations...creepy huh? I love to respond to comments (if you dont have a no-reply email), and show what my life is like from a day to day basis.

I have a Facebook Fan Page but I hardly ever use it, but I am usually on my Twitter account everyday! You can also follow me on Pintrest.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your bloghop! Until then here's a face to remember me by and cant forget my beautiful family!

Anxious.

So I have mentioned before that we're PCS'ing to Fort Bragg, North Carolina in March...looking like March 10th. I have been wanting to go to North Carolina for a long time! I have been excited about moving...BUT the last few days I have felt my anxiety level rise.

I guess mostly its because I have really good friends here finally! I love my house and I finally feel settled. Now I am about to move for the 4th time in 2 years and I am scared. Yepp scared. My doctor has given me xanax because I do have anxiety at night time especially. But I am now more nervous then ever.

I am sure I am not the only one who is scared to leave behind a good life and start a new life somewhere else. I am ready to leave Kansas behind, but I am not ready to leave my friends.

I am scared that I will get to North Carolina and have no friends. I am not the most open person, and I know how some Army Wives can be. Plus it doesnt help that my husband is a 24 (almost 25) E6 and most E6's are older and so their wives and kids are older. So I have no idea how this is going to work! My husband is NOT one of those guys that only hangs out with his rank dudes. He hangs out with E5's and even one E4 as long as he's not their NCO. But I dont know how this is going to work.

Plus...I have no idea if I should even plan Evelyn a birthday party. :( We are planning on taking her to Disney World which would be a birthday thing...and I will be home in August for a month and we'll be throwing her a party then too. But none for Hubs and I? I am conflicted.

My body is not accepting this very well, I am certain that I am about to loose a ton of weight because I have so much stress and worry going through my body, over something I cannot control.

Speaking of non controlling...I am pretty sure that the Unit my husband is joining is deployed right now, which means no deployment for a while, which I NEED! 2, 12 month deployments in 3 years, ya we need a break! But what if something happens?

Yepp...I am in a sea of "what if's". I am not crazy to be so anxious right??

Back to the Norm.

30 Days and 2 months of my husband being home have now passed. Wasnt that fast? He started going back to normal work days this morning. I wont denie...its flipping weird not having him here, as much as he drove me nuts! It was nice to have an extra hand with Evelyn.

But now that he is back its time for more Mommy & Daughter time. I am pretty pumped to start working with Evelyn on her feedings and her new schedule. She keeps me pretty busy, especially since after her 5am feeding she decided its time to get up and play. She's doing awesome at eating baby food! I was planning on making her own foods, but I cannot afford at this point to go buy a food processor. So I am buying gerber baby foods. She loves everything we give her EXCEPT Squash. She spit that out and made a HUGE mess.

I am really hoping I can get her on a good schedule. We kept her off a normal one since we we're almost constantly going right when Hubs got home. I have almost regretted it, but it really maximized our family time and that made it worth it!

I am so glad the C.O (commanding officer) kept his promise and maximized our time together. After a 12 month deployment thats so important. Those that dont get these long deployments will never understand. Your husbands miss so much especially when you have a newborn while he's away. I am so glad Hubs was here to watch Evelyn learn to roll around and blabber mouth all the time! She's even more interested into crawling, and its been a blast watching her try.

Well I got a baby who's mad she cant reach her toys so I better go. But here's a little photo of Miss Evelyn eating some Apples.
