And your point is?

Lately I have been really wrapped up in sales, discounts, coupon clipping, menu planning and present wrapping! Can you blame me? Thanksgiving is coming up very soon and right after that is Christmas! I like to finish my Christmas shopping early, and it seems like every year I start earlier and earlier. I'm pretty big into getting the best deal I can. If I was brave enough you would probably find me actually in line to get into stores on Black Friday... but instead you'll find me going through online sales and finding coupons to get my family their gifts.

As you can see I get really wrapped up in giving gifts to my family. I know the season is not all about gifts, but this is the one time of year I feel it is appropriate to spoil my family!

As I was searching through my shopping apps on my phone this morning, looking at weekly deals and coupons at my favorite stores, I remembered what P said to me last year about my shopping. He told me; "If you don't stop shopping, you won't be getting anything for Christmas."... and my reaction was the same as last years... "So?" But then as I was searching some more, I started to think about why P would actually want to buy me a present... I mean, I don't need anything. I don't want much either... other then baking pans. My gift is to spoil them rotten, because I love them so much! and then there! You see it? I realized... P feels the same way! He never gets to buy me anything because if I ever need anything, I go get it. I take care of Evelyn's presents, parties and her needs as well. I do all of that. If P needs something, I make sure to grab it too. This is also his one time of year he gets to spoil his wife. He may not be so into finding the perfect gifts for Evelyn, but when he gets the chance to shop for his wife, he does take it seriously.

P treats his girls very well! He sometimes gets frustrated when I buy Evelyn a gift she doesn't need, or a cute outfit that is so not necessary, but you'll almost never hear him complain about it. He works 12+ hours a day and just wants to relax on weekends, so he really doesn't ever get the chance to go all out for anything other then Christmas and my Birthday.

So as I am going through ads and such thinking of going out and shopping this week or next, I stopped myself and decided to throw some more money into our "extra money" account. Its money we put aside for occasions such as Christmas, Birthdays and Vacations. Its money for P to use to shop for me... and money I won't touch. I still want to spoil him rotten for Christmas... and just a hint... Online Black Friday shopping is so worth it! Especially on...Video Games. But I'm glad I stopped myself and realized how important this is for him too. I hope he enjoys it... I'm sure I'll enjoy receiving it :)

Halloween!

Halloween is usually my favorite holiday! I have a ton of décor and my house is decked out. I'm always looking for ways to get more into the spirit of it all. It's such a unique holiday, which is why I love it so much! I'm curious how it will be in Germany next year :)

This year we actually had a lot going on! We had my churches trunk-or-treat, plus P's work's Halloween Party, Playgroups Halloween party and then Halloween! Evelyn ended up with so much candy, and I'm telling you, most of it will end up in the trash... I wish I had done the switch witch thing this year.

At my church's Halloween Party.
(ps. I got so many compliments on this shirt!)

A lot of people were confused about Evelyns costume... A LOT of people asked me if she was a ladybug. I guess that's what we get for going with the Original Minnie Mouse color of Red and not a traditional store bought costume.. also probably the fact she refused to wear her ears.

Other then that I thought Evelyn looked very adorable! this is her second time trick-or-treating and she was able to say the words "tick or treat!" and always made sure to say thank you! She knew exactly what she was doing, and nothing brings a smile to mine and P's faces more then seeing her really involved in something and enjoying it!

We had a moment during the night where she tripped and spilled some candy and Evelyn without skipping a beat said "Oh no! My candy!!" But after collecting her candy and putting it back in her bucket, she was off to the next house.

When we were done trick-or-treating we came and sat with P and passed out candy, Evelyn loved seeing everyone in their costumes! It was a really great night! I swear having kids makes Holidays so much more fun and important to me. I'm so glad Evelyn had a fun filled October and Halloween :)

Evelyns Birthday!

Hey you guys! Sorry it took me so long to get to this! Evelyn got really sick on Monday and was running a high fever for a few days, and just started feeling better today.

Evelyn had such a fun Birthday! Last year P was graduating Airborne School, and I was in Utah with my family. So it was nice to all be together this year. Evelyn woke up and came straight into our room bright and early at 6am! We put her into our bed and cuddled our new little two year old. Its one of those times where life just seems to be perfect! 2 years has flown by and it feels like we just brought her home from the hospital.

P had insisted we spoil Evelyn and get her some donuts for her birthday, so off he went to get Evelyn some fresh Krispy Kream's. When P returned we gave Ev her chocolate frosted donut with Sprinkles and placed 2 candles ontop and sang Happy Birthday to her! She just really didn't understand what the heck we were doing.

After breakfast we had Evelyn open up a few presents. Lucky girl got spoiled rotten! I've mentioned before that I had been working on her toddler room...and this was that final finishing piece to her room. Her new bedding for her big girl bed! Seriously... you cannot go wrong with giving your kid bedding. Evelyn was so excited to get her Minnie Mouse bedding and on top of that, she got a Minnie Mouse pillow pet from my parents.

I'll have to do her bedroom reveal next week sometime. It looks great!

Evelyn had her party on her birthday too and we were so glad we had so many people come to her party! Evelyn loved running around with all the kids!

One of my wonderful friends made this cake for Evelyn.

It was a wonderful day!

Evelyn is the biggest blessing to us and our family. She has the sweetest spirit about her! We couldn't be more proud to be this little angels parents. She really is amazing!

Birthday Girl!

I cannot believe that 2 years ago, I was giving birth to a little girl! That I was lucky enough to have my husband by my side, and start our lives together as a family of 3. We have always felt incredibly blessed to have Evelyn be apart of our lives, she has made our lives so much better and our marriage even stronger! I honestly don't think God could have given us an anymore perfect child. She's got an amazing personality and is just full of life! She loves to adventure but she also loves to hang out and just be with us. She's loved and cared for by so many people and she loves them back just as much! She's so friendly with almost everyone she comes in contact with.

 Evelyn Day 1. First photo.

One of my favorite phases she says now is when I ask her how old she's going to be, she'll whisper back "Nine".

She can tell you where her head, mouth, toes, nose, elbow, eyes and ears are. She knows some of her animal sounds but she prefers the ones that say "RAWR!". Her favorite Disney character at the moment is Minnie Mouse!

1st Birthday Party!

I cannot wait to see how this year turns out for my little girl! She's embarking on a huge journey to be a big sister and by the way she already rubs my belly, and proclaims that its a "ooy!" Just makes my life! I can't wait to see how she does once the little one arrives.

Happy Birthday Evelyn! We love you move then words! Have a wonderful fantastic day!

4th of July!

Hello everyone! We had a perfect day celebrating America's birthday! We have seriously not taken advantage of the beach too often this summer, and we decided that the 4th would be the perfect time! We headed down to Atlantic Beach and picked up P's friend who's in the USMC along the way. It was perfect!!

Evelyn loves her Uncle Preston, I mean seriously.. she thinks he's her boyfriend. Preston is happy to go along with it too. Before we went to the beach we checked into our hotel which was on the USMC Base, it was $30 a night, so no way we were passing that up! We got Evelyn down for a nap while the boys went to the grocery store and got stuff for a BBQ at a park. As hot as it was,  Evelyn didn't play too much at the park, but she had a blast running around under the covered patio. After that everyone went to their rooms and got ready to head to the beach!

We got to the beach at about 4. I was worried it was still going to be super hot, but it really was nice and cool. The water was perfect! Evelyn loved the water! I was so surprised how much she played in the water. After about an hour we all got out and decided to eat dinner, Evelyn ate fruit and made sure she got plenty of sand too. I had forgotten I can't eat lunch meat, and while I was just going to do it anyways a man selling Chick Fil A was walking around and P jumped at the chance to "save his unborn child's life" and bought me a sandwich. I wont deny it... it was pretty yummy!

We let Evelyn play in the sand while we all dried off and watched the sunset, when Evelyn wanted to go for a walk... as we walked around I noticed she was taking me straight back into the ocean... I was glad I brought an extra outfit at that moment because there was no stopping her from climbing right into the water. So I let her get soaked!
After she had ventured into the ocean again.

As soon as the sunset, we waited around for the fireworks show. It was kind of exciting, thinking about watching fireworks on the beach. I just thought about how romantic it would be! I mean sure Preston was there... but that's ok. It was everything I thought it would be!! Evelyn loved it! Perfect 4th of July!

Easter!!

We celebrated Easter early since we were going to be in DC for Easter Sunday. I was pretty excited since my parents were in town and we never get to spend holidays with them anymore. So it had to be perfect!
We woke up and I had an Overnight Blueberry Cassarole in the fridge and threw it straight into the oven..it ended up cooking forever!! But it was still delicious!!
Evelyn woke up and got her Easter stuff!! She got way more then we planned, but this is her first Spring and Summer of being active and walking so she needed a few things!

After Ev's nap we did egg coloring and had her use a whisk to dip the eggs...thank you pintrest! worked like a charm. She had a blast!
This was my first big Easter dinner. I tried to not add too much on my plate, and went pretty simple. Everything was delicious!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Love, Evelyn.

The randoms.

So now that March is here...that happened fast. I am in the process of preparing for almost everything I can think of.

This month my parents are coming for 10 days with my little sister! This is when we will be going to DC for Easter too. I'm so stoked for my parents to come! I feel like I never see them anymore. Plus they are spending Easter with me and I can show my cooking off to my Dad! My Mom was just here in October and I haven't seen my Dad since September so I'm stoked to see them! I got lots to do, like cleaning out the guest room, taking things to goodwill and arranging everything. Pretty much Spring Cleaning.

Next month my MIL is coming. Even though we had to pay for her flight, and I have not been very happy about it, I am glad P gets to see his Mom. He hasn't seen her since Decemer 2011, and I'm sure he is glad to pay for it. While I am upset about paying for things for her, I am trying to get over it and realize that this is just our life with her. She can't afford to really do much and she's just that type of a person, and I am going to have to get used to it. The last few times she's visited us she wasn't very nice to me, and even if I had just given birth to her first Grandchild she still ignored me and put me and my feelings on the back burner. I've told P that I have no hopes and wishes that she'll be nice to me, but that I dont want to keep flying her to see us when she's just uncomfortable with me, and since most of the time she's at our house she is with me. But this will be during P's 4 day weekend so hopefully it will go good.

My mouth is still in a ton of pain, and I'm going to the oral suregon to get checked out. I'm worried about dry sockets and can barelly open my mouth.

I have been enjoying the down time, but really hate that I'm not so up and going in the mornings with Evelyn since I am icing and heating and taking meds and then by afternoon I'm pretty ok. But taking her to the parks or letting her run around is not high on my agenda since I have been feeling pretty "high" on my meds, and while I wish I had a backyard witha fence to just let her run around and play I don't. I'm glad Evelyn is so forgiving and is really ok with just coloring, playing with Play Doh, playing with toys, reading books and watching movies with me. Its nice to take it easy. While my mouth hasn't put the rest of my body out of commision it sure does feel like it. This pain is no freaking joke! I'm glad I can still stimulate her without needing to take her somewhere right now. Hopefully by next week I'll be up to it and we can go to the really cool park with the lake :)

Has anyone else been freaking about Easter? I think since Christmas, I've been taking holidays way more seriously. P thinks I am a weirdo cause I dont just buy the pre-made Easter baskets, I never had one when I was a kid, so I am perfectly fine getting Evelyn her own personalized basket. I've already got her a few things, and I'm almost done! But I cannot wait to do Easter eggs with her and a little Easter egg hunt! Its going to be fun!!

Why I love the month of Love.

**dont forget to ask me anything on my post from yesterday! I'll be answering those questions tomorrow!**

I know everyone says that Valentines Day shouldn't be this big hooah, and how you should show love everyday and Valentines Day is just a Hallmark Holiday full of pressure, roses and chocolates.

Now when I wasn't married Valentines Day was...well whatever. I didn't care too much. Now I am married..and although P and I do OK at making sure we have lots of time for ourselves (we've been slacking lately and we know it), Valentines Day just give you that extra boost!

While I can't speak for every couple out there, its a lot harder now-a-days for us to get out and go and do things. We want to see a movie...have to wait for it to come out on DVD. Want to go to a nice quite fancy restaurant...PSH! wishful thinking. Want to window shop....HA HA HA! Ya right! So yes sometimes the romance goes away.

When Evelyn was first born, immobile and sleeping all the time, we made sure to do date night in at least twice a month. P had just gotten home from deployment too so it was all about getting back into the groove of things! Then we moved to NC, we pretty much stopped stay-at-home date night. Every once in a while we'd remember and go out and come home and watch tv...and now its...watch TV in bed till we fall asleep.

So because P and I have caught on to our little habit we are forming, we are trying to do better at making a little bit more romance in our life. I wont even deny it...Valentines Day seriously made us think about how much less romance we've been having.

So Valentines Day while its a Thursday and which duh its a work day so we wont really do anything, but we will be doing a little more on Friday to keep our romance alive. Its super important to make any and all holidays a little more fun especially when you never have a sitter and can't really go out.

I love the month of love! Plus isn't this holiday really fun?!

2013 the year of the Unknown

Usually I go into a New Year with lots of expectations. Especially since I got married I could predict how the year would go and usually thats how it went. 1st year we got married we got married the day before NYE so no surprise I would be moving and get a job in a different state. 2nd year, P was deployed, I moved home and I was pregnant, so I knew I'd be having a baby and moving back to Kansas when he got home. 3rd year we knew we were moving to NC and I had huge plans to go to DisneyWorld and DC, Fort Bragg was going to be amazing (yeah right). This is the 4th year and all I see is a giant black hole.

We have no idea whats going to happen this year, and its always given me bad anxiety. I'd love to say that 2013 will bring us to a new move, hopefully to Fort Carson, that it will bring me weightloss so I can get pregnant towards the end of the year, and it will bring us more money to the bank account. But lets face it...P doesn't know what he wants to do, which means I have no way to plan for what he wants to do. I am trying to lose weight for my health and have failed consistantly. We can only save money when we really really try to cut back, which we've done better at, but could still do better.

I'm currently standing in front of a big black hole. What will this year bring us? Hopefully at least my weightloss and us being better with spending and saving. But thats about all I see...and I barelly see it.

I guess thats another thing that comes with being an adult...you cant always plan everything.

Good Bye 2012

This year had many great memories! I honestly think that since we got married every year has been a whirlwind! We had so much going on this year. When we entered this year we had a 5 month old, living in Fort Riley and great friends. We are ending this year with a 17 month old, living in Fort Bragg, with just us three. We wouldnt have it any other way.

We moved. We traveled. We had a Army Seperation for a few months, but we were together and thats what matters.

We are hoping that 2013 brings us to a post closer to home, a still healthy 2 year old, weight loss for me, better oppertunities for P, and maybe even another baby.

2012 its been real. Thanks :)

Be safe everyone! Happy New Years!!

The L Family Christmas

Well lets start with Christmas Eve. We decided to start a new tradtion this year with our family. On my side of the family, we aways opened PJ's on Christmas Eve, and on P's side he just got to open one present under the tree. Well because the wife ALWAYS knows better last year, our first together Christmas, we did the PJ's, which was fun. This year we decided to start movie nights for Christmas. We love to have movies nights so this just was made up a little different. Every year we will get PJ's, mugs, hot chocolate and a movie and just have a big picnic/sleepoverish thing in the living room and this year went quite well! We brought out Evelyn's couch and gave her a blanket and she pretty much sat in her couch. This year she got the movie Elf. P has never seen it, so it was fun to watch with him.

By the way, if you can see she has a Rudolph and Clarise :)

On Christmas morning, of course I was up early. I am such a kid, I was so excited to see Evelyn's face and see how she woud react to the presents under the tree. But I laid in bed and waited for Evelyn to wake up, but as soon as she was awake I shook P awake and started Christmas morning!

Our tree looks so pretty this year, even with ordements only at the top.

Awake on Christmas morning!!

I have a few videos of Evelyn coming to check out her presents. Honestly I dont think she knew what to do because she wasnt heading for them, but wasnt totally freaked out.
As soon as she got into it...she really got into it!

Evelyn had a fantastic Christmas. She got puzzles, books, blanket, Cabbage Patch baby, Little People Princess Castle, Minnie Mouse ride-on toy, building blocks and of course an outfit!

P had a pretty good Christmas, the big gift I got him was all the Avenger movies! He never has any "man movies" and so I had been working on it for a few months buying him all the movies! He also got Assassins Creed 3!

I got what I needed more then anything...a stand mixer! But it wasnt just any stand mixer...it was THE stand mixer! Santa is pretty fantastic! All in All I would say we had a really great Christmas. Who knows what will be next year, so I'm glad this was such an amazing Christmas.

How was your Christmas? Any plans for New Years?

**DISCLAIMER: I am sorry if me posting our presents offends anyone...its not ment to offend anyone, seeing as this is MY blog that my family at home reads, so I post for them just as much as my other audience. Don't take offence.**

Everyone who's loved one is deployed on this day, you and your SO's are in my thoughts and prayers. May they make it home safely!

A little update.

Since my blogging has been so up in the air I decided to give you all an update on how things in the L. household are latley.

Lets start with P. Since I last updated about him, he has going through Airborne school, or had just finished. Either way P had his first jump at Fort Bragg a few weeks ago! Since I didnt go to his Airborne Graduation I couldnt wait to watch him jump here. When I got the chance I went and boy am I glad I did. Its the coolest thing ever to see them jump! I could have watched all day!
Its kinda hard to see but he is jumper #11

Other then that he has been getting off early all day this week. Super shocking!! I never though I'd see the day. He takes Christmas leave on Monday and we cant wait to have him home for a long period of time, and it will definitly be nice to show him that I do not sit around all day again.

Now for Evie. She's doing fanstastic! We are working really hard on her speach and pointing out body parts...so far she loves to show her Belly...or in her words "ebby!". Shes still learning Toes but when I ask her to say Toes she says "ooes". So we're getting it! She is also learning her name...but since I think saying Evelyn is a little complex for her right now we have been saying "E" or "Eeee!! Me Eee!!" in her words.
She also loves to color! She's always on her doodle pad, or pointing to her crayons. We have works of art all over our fridge and her walls.

Oh and me...I am doing pretty good. I finally got my hair dyed back to its natural color, and I'm loving it. I do miss the blonde highlights but maybe some other time I'll put them back in. I have been working on getting myself onto a schedule so I can start a workout routine. I usually go off of Evelyns schedule, and while that works most days, most days I'll forget I have to clean and keep up on housework, then it will be 3 weeks later and I have so much to do in one day. So for now on I'll be taking an hour or two out of the day where Evelyn is behind the gate in her room with her music and I'll be cleaning or even just taking time to myself to read/write/blog whatever I want.
Its very typical of me to get caught up in the roles I play and lose myself. I dont want to look back in 40 years and say I was an amazing Mom and an amazing Wife, but I was not an amazing me. It will take time to balence it, but I'm going to do it. If Evelyn ever wants to be a stay at home mom I want to give her advice on stuff I actually did and stuggled with being a SAHM.
One thing I have been fond of latley is my crafting and heres just a few things I have done over the last few weeks...

I'm pretty proud of myself when I see these things!

Back and Forth.

Things have finally started to settle down here in my household. I am not crying all the time or grieving the loss of my friend. I've started getting some closure on his death, after talking to his Grandmother, and sending her a letter with memories of him in it.

I didnt think I would ever take a death this hard ever again. After you lose a sibling, losing Grandparents or anything such as that seems more like it there time. then super sad. Of course I am always sad and grieve the losses of my Grandparents who have passed, but I have always known they lived a full healthy life. But this friend was a different grief, reminded me alot of how I felt when I lost my sister. Your just so sad that a young life was lost.

Enough about my grief. I am dealing with it, and I really am glad he found the peace he has been searching for.

I have lots of things going through my brain and latley have no way of putting it out into my blogosphere. I have been finding other ways to put out feelings and such by painting and crafting. If you follow me on Instagram you've seen the photos. I am sorry I cannot show you them, Blogger apperently isnt a an of me anymore and I am going to hopefully switch to WP soon.

If you have suggestions on how to do it please let me know :)

I have started my Christmas Menu and my New Years menu and my Anniversary menu! I get way excited early! But this is a magical time of year! Although Halloween is my favorite holiday, this time of the year is filled with some much love, and joy!

Anyone got any great things coming up this month as well?

Thanksgiving Weekend.

**I would have posted pictures but blogger sucks! **

I have had busy couple of days! No kidding. We had 3 extra people in this house this weekend. One was P's friend from California, one was P's friends from Fort Riley, and the day after Thanksgiving one of my Best Friends from Fort Riley flew in to surprise her husband. We pulled the surprise off it was pretty cool!

So then all weekend it was entertaining and making dinners and a little bit of shopping. It was pretty fun!

I'm so glad my friend Cassie flew in with her little baby boy. You'll never guess who wanted to hold him all the time....Evelyn!! She reached for him and she'd pet his head, she stole his binky, she gave him toys. She was so cute! I thought having a baby here would make me less baby hungry, but seeing Evelyn like that was just too cute for words! Oh how I wish it was the perfect time.

I'll admit I dreaded this weekend because P and I would be doing pretty much everything, which ment much MULAH! I hate spending money on other people that can be ungratful. But everyone was offering us gas money, cleaning their messes so it really made it so much nicer and easier on P and I...but I am so glad that we wont be inviting anyone for Christmas, it will be nice to have it be just us 3 on Christmas morning. Seems like we share so many holidays with other friends latley, and we're ready to be alone.

**I'm also sorry I'm posting this 5 days late...photos wouldnt upload and I finally gave up, but it was a wonderful weekend**

Evelyns little outfit...she actually really does love this hat.
She loves the Pine Needles all over the place! Shes just watching the boys play Football.
I think this might be my favorite picture!
Our spread!!
Evelyn actually didnt like anything but her green bean cassarole.
Little stinker!

Thanksgiving Menu!

I'm so thrilled for Thanksgiving. Last year for some reason we didnt hardly make anything from scratch....it will be different this year! I am making everything from scratch.

First for Breakfast we are having Pumpkin French Toast Bake! I have been loving doing all these breakfast's for holidays! So one more pumpkin breakfast for us...5? yes 5 people this year.

For appitizers we have having Jalapenos stuffed with Cream Cheese and wrapped in bacon, a Sweet Pumpkin Dip, and Oysters, Cheese and Crackers (that last one is P's request...I dont get it)

I am doing a brine for the turkey, just oranges, lemons, salt, chicken broth, ice and probably a bunch of other things I have in the pantry.

We are also having Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes, I love homemade mashed potatoes! I'm so excited for this!
I've never even made Frenchs Green Bean Casserole so another excitment!
I got one request from all the men (3) who are coming tomorrow and its for Candied Yams. I am not too sure how I feel about it... I've never had it..but ehh I'll do it.
Also I'm just doing cresent rolls.

For desert we are having Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cakes.. my Dad made this like 6 years and its now a Thanksgiving request in my house, and it my belly!! Its by far my favorite!!

Thats my menu for the day tomorrow! Whats on your menu?

Stressgiving.

Is what this holiday should be called.

I am one of those types of people who over-react, over think, and then cry because I cant help it. Yeah...Its largely pathetic but its who I have always been.

I wouldnt normal worry about this Holiday but this year is very different. This year one of our friends from Fort Riley is at Fort Jackson, SC doing recruiter school, so we have asked him if he wanted to come up for Thanksgiving...at this time we thought he had a car, but he actually doesnt. So we have to drive the 3 hours there and back to get him and take him back a few days later. Not too big of a deal, but then P invited another friend who lives 2 hours away in the opposite direction that we would have to pick up and take back...so I automatically see $$$ adding up.

Luckily P's friend thats still in NC bought a bus ticket to come here, which makes life just a tad bit easier on our end!

This year we also have a special guest showing up to surprise her husband the day after Thanksgiving that I am also going to have to drive to pick up. I'm excited to surprise her husband, since they have a 7 week old baby and he has only had a week with the baby so it will be way fun.

I've been going through all my stresss emotions with this Holiday and I am just so glad that its not Christmas, and we are inviting no one for Christmas.

But can I mention that the thought of Black Friday stresses me out?! I only need 3 more gifts....well technially just one but I'd like to do 3 more, and I am going to do my Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping ONLINE cause I am not brave enough to go to the store. But It stresses me out with all the money being spent of gas, and then a little shopping needing to happen.

Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully I am overreacting and its going to turn out fine. I stress out way too easy.
