I dont want to post names, or call people out. I just had noticed a quote that someone had posted that said something about hating war....now I am not a huge "go war" person, I do believe we are in Afghanistan for the right reasons...sometimes, but even if I dont support war all the time, I do support my husband and the other troops. I do my best not to bash on the Army or Military, which we all know is hard not to do since its so unorganized and so many questions get left unanswered. But you will rarely find me saying the word 'hate' and 'army/military' in the same sentence.
I really have a lot of respect for all the troops, its something I wish I had the guts to do. So other then showing my support by screaming it at the top of my lungs, I avoid saying such things as 'war is stupid' because I know thats not the right way to go about living the military.
I gave it a lot of thought, and though I am finding it hard to understand this person, who also has a loved one in the military, I also find myself saying: Do I Even Want To?
Do I really need to waste my time wondering why someone could hate what our troops do for our country, whether I believe in the war or not? I didn't make the decision to send my husband to Iraq, I didnt make the decision to send troops there. I also didnt make any of the decisions regarding Afghanistan...but I stand behind them, and choose to over look what I dont like so that I dont offend anyone there and anyone here who is serving or have a loved one serving.
I know this might just seem like a ramble...but really am I the only one who feels that way?
update: found a good quote that matches this blog.
Patriots always talk of dying for their country and never of killing for their country. ~Bertrand Russell

amen sister, i agree. like the quote. Some people are just naive.
I think it's slightly amusing when people associated with the military {spouses etc} say things such as war is stupid, because, let's be honest, without it their husbands wouldn't have jobs. And honestly, people that hate our troops are just ignorant.
I love your quote and I think this one is kind of appropriate too: "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
--John Stuart Mill
I agree with you in that even if we don't support war, we can support the troops by trying to ensure their safety and understanding their passion.
Just found your blog :)
